Pigment Violet RL is a purple powder used for coloring coatings, inks, rubber, and plastics, as well as dope coloring of synthetic fibers. The pigment is based on triphenyl dioxazine, which is resistant to almost all organic solvents, so it can be used in many application media with good fastness. The basic color of the pigment is red purple, and bluer varieties can also be obtained through special pigment treatment. Its coloring power copes with a wide range of commonly used media, providing satisfactory color depth in small quantities.

The crude grade can be used as an intermediate for pigment VL 23 or direct sun-resistant blue 108.
